In this video I go over what things you need to think about when making your own competitive army lists for local tournaments and for bigger events.

One thing that I forgot to mention that you should also take into consideration; what special rules does your army have access to? And what units benefit from them the most. For example, I play alpha legion, and alpha legions trait is -1 to be shot at when more than 12 inches away from the shooter, this only applies to infantry, dreadnaughts and bikes – so I only include dreadnaughts infantry and bikes in my list to get the most from my armies special rule. That doesn’t mean you have to make an army centered around your army-wide trait, but sometimes it does help to have that as a lending strategy – for example a lot of ultra marine lists spam razorbacks and they don’t receive the UM trait, but they do synergize with Guilleman really well. Its just another thing to think about when making your list.
