In this cPanel tutorial we cover how to use the cPanel Email Autoresponder. This is an extremely handy tool for handling email when you you are away from the office or on vacation/holiday.

Hello everyone, and welcome to this video on creating an autoresponder with cPanel. Autoresponders are used to send an automatic reply to incoming mail. This is great to let people know that you have received their message or to inform people that you are away. For example, you could be on holiday or vacation or just out of the office.
We are currently here on the cPanel homepage, and to get to the autoresponder’s interface, you go to the Email panel and click Autoresponders. Here in the Autoresponders interface, you are met with two options. The first one is to add a new autoresponder and the second is to select an autoresponder that you’ve already created. These autoresponders will be listed in this table below.
As you can see, we have no autoresponders created, so we will click the Add Autoresponder button. The first set of options we are met with is the Character Set. In most cases, you will be okay with the UTF-8. This is the standard character set, but if you need to use an international character set, then there is a whole selection here for you to use. If you know what character set you want, then please go ahead and choose, but if you don’t, then stick with UTF-8.
The second is the interval. I will put 24 in here. That means that if someone sends you an email, the autoresponder will send an automatic response, but if they send another email within 24 hours, there will not be another response sent. The autoresponder will only send another response after 24 hours.
Next, enter the email the autoresponder will be applied to. If you have not set up an email, then please do so. If you’re unsure, then check out the create a POP email account, video in our tutorials. For example sake, we will just put “admin” in here. Now, the email is admin@ and then your domain underneath. Ours is the demo@cpanel domain. Underneath this, you put who your autoresponded email is from, so enter your name or the name you require, and then under this, we create the autoresponded email you want to send, starting with the subject. You could put “Sorry. I am on holiday.”
Next, we will create the body text for our message. If your message is going to contain HTML like line breaks, paragraphs and bold and text or an ordered list of instructions, then you will need to click this box here. When creates your message, you can use the above tags listed at the top of the autoresponder panel. The first one is subject. That is the subject of the message sent to the autoresponder. The second one is from the name of the sender of the message received by the autoresponder if it was available. The third and final is the email, and that is the incoming email of the sender’s address.
I will add some example text in here to give you an idea of what a good simple autoresponder message should look like. Once you’ve created your message and if you want, you can add HTML tags like I have in this message, we will go down to when you would like this message to start and finish. If you’d like it to start immediately, then select the Immediately box, or if you’d like this message to start autoresponding at a different time, then click the Custom box. You can select the months by with the arrows on the side here and the date by clicking on the number. You can also pick a time underneath.
Once you’re happy with your selection, click the mouse outside of the date box, and it will disappear. The same with when you like your autoresponded message to stop, click Never if you want it to run for ever, if you want to stay on holiday for ever, that will heal, or you can click Custom and do the same again.
Now, your autoresponded message will run only between these times and dates. Once you’re happy with everything you have entered and selected, click Create/Modify button at the bottom of the page.
