Jobs feel safe. We show up, do what we’re supposed to do, and a check for the same amount comes in every couple of weeks. We can feel safe, secure, and comfortable with that. We can budget for housing, transportation, and food. We might even get a few weeks of vacation each year and have enough left over to go somewhere nice. So what’s the problem?
From humble beginnings, WordPress autoresponders have grown into fully-featured solutions, with a number of plugins to choose. Here we discuss 2 of the best ones: GoodNews!, and MyMail.
Why Not Use Online Autoresponder Services?
With heavyweights such as Aweber, GetResponse and Mailchimp around, why bother with WordPress autoresponder plugins in the first place?
While online autoresponder services have been around for a while and are quite reliable, I can think of 3 big advantages in favor of WordPress sutoresponder plugins:
1. No Ongoing Costs
I don’t know about you, but I am not a great fan of subscriptions, I prefer one-off payments. With subscriptions, you get progressively penalized with higher and higher fees as your list grows. It doesn’t matter whether you list is responsive or ‘cold’, it matters not whether you’re making any money off of your list or not, you end up paying 0 per month or more just for having a big list. Why do it, if a WordPress autoresponder can do an equally good job for a small one-off fee?
2. Peace of Mind
Do you know that your account with an online autoresponder
service can get suspended or cancelled overnight, for a variety of reasons? It is known to happen, and it can hit your pocket hard, undermine the trust your customers have in you, and bring your sales funnel to a halt. There are no such risks when your autoresponder is installed on your own WordPress site.
3. You’re in Full Control
With the online autoresponder services you’re NEVER in control.
When you want to move people from one service to another, they’re forced to confirm it yet again – and many do not understand why do they have to do it all over again, and you lose a solid percentage of your list. Also, when people purchase your product, why force them into additional confirmations? With some of these services, you even have to ask for permission when you change the subject line of some of the subscription messages, as if you were a fifth-grader.

Email Marketing là hình thức quảng bá, marketing thông qua con đường email. Bằng cách gửi những email đến cho danh sách email của bạn, bạn sẽ dần dần xây dựng được mối quan hệ với họ (khách hàng), tào lòng tin và tăng dần khả năng nhận diện thương hiệu lẫn nhân hiệu của bạn đối với khách hàng.
Một khi khách hàng đã có lòng tin ở bạn, bạn sẽ có thể gửi những email kèm lời chào bán hàng, giới thiệu sản phẩm dịch vụ, và khách hàng sẽ mua hàng từ bạn.
Một ví dụ đơn giản việc bán hàng thông qua Email Marketing: một diễn giả nổi tiếng, có danh sách email khoảng 100.000 email, khi ông ta ra một khóa học mới, ông ta gửi email đồng loạt đến toàn bộ danh sách email của mình, giả sử chỉ 20% người mở ra đọc, nghĩa là có 20.000 người đọc, và trong số những người đọc đó, giả sử chỉ có 20% người đọc quyết định mua hàng, tức là 20.000 x 20% = 4.000 người mua. In this video, I show you how to setup your first campaign and autoresponder sequence within GetResponse for your affiliate marketing success!
I also show you how to setup confirmation e-mails when people sign up on your landing page, and how to delete them.
Confirmation e-mails may filter out people who are serious in your product versus those that are not, but at the same time makes them take an extra step before getting on your list – clicking that additional ‘subscribe’ button. Here are the steps for creating your autoresponders on GetResponse:
1. Click ‘create campaign’ at the top right of your page in GetResponse in the drop-down menu where it says ‘your current campaign’.
2. Name your new campaign and click ‘create campaign’. These names are stored in the GetResponse database, so you MAY have a name that is already taken by someone else. Not to worry – simply pick another name for your campaign or add some underscores or numbers to it. In our example, the campaign name ‘diabetes’ was taken, so we decided to name our campaign ‘_diabetes1_’.
3. So now we have created our campaign. Our next step is to click on ‘messages’ at the top and select ‘create autoresponder’.
4. Keep the option on ‘time-based’. Select the day you want to set up your autoresponder on. Day 0 means on the day the person subscribes to your list, and you can either send the email right away, after a few hours, or before a certain deadline time. You can also choose whether you want to send out emails during any days of the week in particular and leave out the other days. After you scroll to the bottom, click on ‘create new email’.
5. Put in a name to remember this message by at the top in the ‘message name’ field, and put in the name that you subscribers will see in the ‘subject’ field. Create something catchy, since subscribers will click on this based on 2 things – who the email is coming from, and what the title is. When you are done, click on ‘next step’.
I would also recommend setting up your own private email and making the email come from there, since if it’s coming from a free email like yahoo or gmail, it may immediately land in the spam folder. We will do this using Namecheap in one of our future posts.
You can also personalize the email by adding the subscriber’s full name, first name, or last name. You can do that by typing in double square brackets, followed by what it is you want to address them by, and then closing the brackets. So if I wanted to address my subscribers by their first name, I would say something like ‘Hey [[firstname]], here is the email!’.
6. Select a template you want to have for your autoresponder. You can either select from one of the categories, or make one completely from scratch, and even have no pictures or template at all.
7. Make the necessary changes to your email and then click on ‘next step’.
8. Now that you have finished your autoresponder for that day, you can click on ‘save and publish’!
That is it! You have finished your autoresponder for that day, and just repeat the exact same process to create additional emails for the other days as well.
